CALVERT FOOTBALL RANKS #1

The 2011 Calvert Football Team was recognized by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association as the NUMBER #1 Academic Football Team in Ohio, across all divisions, for its academic excellence. To qualify, the grade point averages of the top 22 lettermen for each team were averaged and ranked in the state. Only 20 out of 700 teams in Ohio received this honor. Their grade point average was a 3.89 which enabled the Senecas to grab the top spot. Also impressive is fact that The Senecas landed 3 players on the Academic All-State team- Nathan Mathias, Nathan Ritzler and Stephen Smith. What a great honor for these student athletes as well as our school as there are only 111 players selected out of over 35,000 high school football players. Congratulations to our Senecas who excel in the classroom and the field. |
